The Uwell Crown S and Crown X are small pod mods with a 1500mAh battery. The INVC Palace S comes with both an MTL and a DTL coil. The P8 Vape 100W is the lowest priced box mod kit, with a tank that takes screw in coil heads.

The SMOK IPX-2 and VOOPOO Drag S3 both have a 3000mAh battery. The Dr 160 Watt Vape Kit goes up to 160W with a 3.5ml tank.

Pod mod or box mod?

A pod mod uses a refillable pod cartridge, so it is smaller and easier to carry. A box mod uses a separate tank with replaceable coil heads and usually gives more power. Some box mods have a built in battery, like the P8 and Dr 160. Others take removable 18650 or 21700 batteries, which you charge or swap yourself.

How to choose a vape mod

• Power. Most coils do not need the top wattage. Start low with a new coil and raise it slowly until the flavour is warm but not burnt.
• Battery. Check whether batteries are built in, included or sold separately. The table above shows this for each kit.
