Pod repair: common problems and what usually causes them
Burnt or weak taste
This is almost always the coil or pod, not the device. Coils wear out, and a dry hit on a fresh pod usually means the cotton was not soaked before the first puff. Fit a new pod, fill it and wait about five minutes before vaping. Our guide on how often to change a vape coil explains the signs.
Device lights up but does not fire
Take the pod out and wipe the gold contacts on the pod and inside the device with a dry tissue. Liquid on the contacts stops the connection. If it still will not fire with a new pod, bring it in.
Leaking
Overfilling, a cracked pod or a worn coil seal are the usual causes. Check the pod for cracks and do not fill past the line. If a new pod still leaks, the device may have liquid inside and should be checked.
Not charging
Try another cable and charger first. Clean the charging port gently, because lint and dried liquid block it. If it still will not charge, it needs a repair check. Our guide on charging a vape safely covers cables and chargers.
Fires on its own or gets hot
Stop using it and take the pod out. Do not charge it. A device that fires by itself or gets hot needs to be checked in person.
Swollen or puffed battery
Do not charge or use it, and do not try to open it. Bring it to the shop in a safe container so we can look at it. A swollen battery is a safety problem, not something to keep using.
