Uwell now has three Caliburn G5 kits with a screen, and the names are easy to mix up: the Caliburn G5, the Caliburn G5 Vision and the Caliburn G5 Pro. They share the same pods and the same 35W power, but the screen, the battery and the price are different. This guide puts them side by side in plain words, so you can pick one in a couple of minutes. Screen: the biggest difference
The screen is the main reason these three exist. On the G5 the screen sits in a window in the middle of the front panel. It shows your wattage, puffs and battery, and you change settings with a triple tap and the side button.
The G5 Vision turns almost the whole front into a 3.0 inch screen. It is the largest display of the three, and it is what most people notice first in the shop. It shows the same information as the G5, just bigger and brighter, with animations.
The G5 Pro has a slightly smaller 2.79 inch screen, but it is a proper touchscreen, a bit like a small phone. Double tap the U icon and a control centre opens where you set wattage, brightness, ECO mode and Silent mode. You can pick from four themes and twelve languages, and change the vibration and screen timeout. If you like to adjust things, the Pro is the most fun to use.
Battery: how long each one lasts
The G5 and the G5 Vision both have a 1600mAh battery. The G5 Pro has 1800mAh, about 12% more. In daily use that is roughly an extra hour or two before you need the charger, depending on your wattage. Keep in mind that a big bright screen uses power too, so if you turn the brightness down and use ECO mode on the Pro, you will notice the difference more.
All three charge over Type-C. The Pro takes up to 2.5A, so it charges a little faster than the other two at 2A. A cable is not always in the box, but any normal Type-C cable works. Our guide on how to charge a vape safely explains which chargers are fine to use.
Pods and flavour: the same on all three
This is the good news: the flavour and the pods are basically the same family. Each kit takes Caliburn GPP pods, the newer GPP Alpha pods and the older G3 pods, all 3ml. Which pod to use is simple:
- 0.9 ohm: tight mouth to lung draw, like a cigarette. Best with 20MG to 35MG nic salt.
- 0.6 ohm: a little looser and warmer, still good with nic salt.
- 0.4 ohm: more vapour at higher watts. Use lower nicotine here, such as 3MG or 6MG freebase, or a low strength nic salt.

Which one should you buy?
- Buy the G5 Vision if you want the newest model with the largest screen and the lowest price of the three. It is the best value right now.
- Wait for the G5 Pro if battery life matters most to you, or you want full touch control and lots of settings.
- Buy the G5 if you want three pods in the box and do not care about the bigger screen.

Is vaping better than smoking? What the research says
Many of our customers buy a Caliburn to move away from cigarettes, so it is fair to ask what the evidence says. Here is a short summary from the main reviews, with links so you can read them yourself.
- Much less harmful than smoking, but not harmless. The UK government’s independent review, Nicotine vaping in England: 2022 evidence update, found that people who vape are exposed to far fewer harmful substances than people who smoke. It concluded that “in the short and medium term, vaping poses a small fraction of the risks of smoking”, and also that “vaping is not risk-free, particularly for people who have never smoked”.
- It helps people quit. The Cochrane review on e-cigarettes for smoking cessation (November 2025, 104 studies) found high certainty evidence that nicotine vapes help more people stop smoking than nicotine patches or gum: about 9 in 100 people quit for at least six months with a vape, against about 6 in 100 with nicotine replacement. The authors found no clear evidence of serious harm, but say longer studies are still needed.
- Doctors in the UK agree. The Royal College of Physicians report E-cigarettes and harm reduction (2024) says vapes cause less harm than smoking tobacco and are an important tool for smokers. It also says much more should be done to stop young people and non-smokers from starting.
- The NHS uses vaping to help smokers. The NHS page on vaping to quit smoking gives advice for smokers who want to switch.
The honest summary: if you are an adult who smokes, switching fully to a vape is a much better choice than carrying on with cigarettes. If you do not smoke, do not start vaping. Nicotine is addictive, and vapes are for adults 18+ only. Once you have stopped smoking for good, the best next step is to lower your nicotine strength over time.
